The sad thing about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fandom...

...is that it includes people who are so committed to their OTPs that, even after this week's episode, there will probably be Skye/Undead Alien Deity Grant Ward shipper fics.

The sad thing about Joss Whedon is that this may even end up as canon.

Oh, has grant ward been killed off at last?

My reactions at various points in that episode:

"No, don't take him prisoner, just SHOOT the fucker."

"Finally! That took you long enough. Now - "

"OH JESUS COME ON"

It's a sad state of affairs that they evidently can't come up with any other interesting villain in this show.

Especially since they killed off Jianyu, who was a more interesting character and had more complex motives.

Sort of.

Agree with you both.

He may actually be more interesting as a zombie...

No body, ain't dead?

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2015-12-10 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
He'll certainly be more lifelike.

Agreed, at least until they made her Just Plain Evil in her last episode.

Yeah, called that on Gemma's return, was all over it.

Reanimated corpse controlled by some sort of Cthulhoid entity.

And of course she'll wonder if Fitz dumped the other guy deliberately.

[identity profile] gonzo21.livejournal.com 2015-12-10 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? Maybe I should give the show another chance if they're getting into Cthulhoid entity territory then.

He is pretty much the reason I gave up watching the show, because he was just so bad.

... From the little bits I keep hearing, I'm increasingly glad that I bailed out of that show back at the winter break for season 2. *sigh* It started off so promisingly, too.

[identity profile] whswhs.livejournal.com 2015-12-10 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I feel absolutely the opposite. The current season strikes me as much the best I've seen from the show, much better even than season 2, which I felt had started to be more effectively dramatic.

I guess I was never in the MCU for the drama. I was in it because I identified more with the characters than DCU's grim cinematic offerings. *sigh*

It did get much better once Hydra came out of the woodwork.

[identity profile] ffutures.livejournal.com 2015-12-10 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I still like it enough to watch every episode - mostly to groan at how badly their decision-making works nearly every time, but it's a fond groan, I think.

[identity profile] ffutures.livejournal.com 2015-12-10 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately the down side of this is that Hydra is now a Cthulhoid cult, rather than being created by human scum. I've always hated "the devil made them do it" as an explanation for e.g. Hitler.

He got much more interesting once he turned out to be (a) Hydra and (b) a psychopath. Still a total dick, but one who actually did things occasionally.

[identity profile] dsample.livejournal.com 2015-12-11 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's still a bunch of human scum who somehow decided that pulling this thing back to Earth would be a good idea. I don't know how much influence the beast itself had in their decision.

True.
