I wonder if the new Torchwood will still be canon to the Who-verse, what with the US network being in charge of it, and possibly pushing for things that aren't very Who-esque...

The idea of Gwen & Rhys as Mr. and Mrs. Smith (or possibly Undercover Blues) does have a certain charm.

There was quite a lot of discussion of it over the WriterConUK weekend. Rumour had it that the new agents include a paedophile and his handler. No-one was at all hopeful that it would be good....

I must admit I have my doubts as well, just because of the drop in quality of RTDs writing of late... I'm astonished it got greenlight by Starz. Particularly with Gwen in a starring role.

Torchwood is a purely British organization. At least in canon. The USA would take a VERY dim view of such an org working in the USA.
