Buffy Season 1, Constantine

Probably mainly of interest to Brits.

Channel 5 has Buffy Season 1 episode 1 scheduled for Saturday at 6.40 PM, after Charmed. Presumably they're going to run the whole season and/or all 7 seasons. Nice to introduce the series to people who were too young first time round, I suppose, but Buffy with advertising breaks - blechhh...

C4 has a "T4 Special" about Constantine on Sunday at 1.30 PM - given that it's in the kids slot I suspect it won't be very good, but might be worth taking a look.

But ad breaks are part of the timing of shocks in Buffy. If you loose those you get those weird repititions around missing breaks.

Desperate Housewives is even more desperate in this respect. Channel 4 seem to have adopted US ad breaks so that whilst the programme lasts 42 minutes it takes 65 to show on TV. Most of my friends tape it and watch it later. Oh for Tivo!

As long as they follow the original commercial breaks, it shouldn't be too bad.

Hopefully. I've just been spoiled by the BBC and DVDs. Don't know why I'm worrying, since I've seen them all, but C5 is often the channel I put on when there's nothing particular I want to see but I still feel like having TV on, also for a few specific programs such as the CSI shows and new episodes of charmed - they're on repeats of repeats right now so not very interested in that - so the chances I'll be watching are higher than if it were on another commercial channel.

Don't forget Doctor Who night on Saturday! Which in typical BBC cheapness is only an hour and a half, and includes a special Mastermind edition.

This weekend? I thought it was Easter weekend (and can't now find the TV paper to check)!

BBC2 Sat 19 Mar, 19:30 - 21:10 100 mins

John Culshaw introduces an evening of programmes celebrating Doctor Who, starting with The Story of Doctor Who, followed by Some Things You Need to Know About Dr Who and finally Doctor Who Mastermind.

Not the actual first new episode then. Okay, I can probably live without since it clashes with CSI New York.

They also seem to have scheduled the new Dr Who up against Ant and Dec too. Which, perhaps not the finest piece of BBC scheduling ever.

Wonder If

No idea - but the time allowed seems about right for the full program with ads.
