Saints Alive!

I heard a while ago that there was a new Saint TV series being made with Eliza Dushku (Buffy, Dollhouse) as Patricia Holm. There's finally some footage on line:

Looks a bit formulaic, with a plot against the Templar family to provide story arc, but might be OK.

Just "a bit formulaic"? There really needs to be a moratorium on trailers using clichéd taglines as if they were huge dramatic statements. "If you can't beat him... join him." Seriously? If this series has any of the (as I remember it) rather cool wit of the original series, they hid it very well in this trailer.

Still, it's Eliza kicking ass and I'll try anything once.

ETA: And that was Roger Moore at the end, wasn't it?

I think so. Reminds me I have another of my Saint stories half written, must finish it if I can find the file.

What I don't get is why Eliza Dushku keeps getting lead roles. Her Faith was tollerable, but ever since she's pretty much been playing the same character. And she was the main reason I couldn't even get past the second ep of Dollshouse.

I'm not sure - some of her Dollhouse performance was pretty good, especially in later episodes. But my mental Patricia Holm is (a) British and (b) a tall willowy blonde, ED does not really fit the bill.

Sigh. There's never going to be a 1930s Saint with modern production values, is there?

You'd think it was a natural, wouldn't you - amazed that e.g. the Downton Abbey people don't look at it.

I've been wishing for exactly that for years.
