Cheap 50mm 1.8 for Canons.

I keep seeing these advertised on ebay - no use to me since I have Nikon equipment, and they only make a Canon version. Remarkably cheap for an F1.8 autofocus lens, but I have no idea if they are any good, of course, and I'd imagine there's customs duty on top of the price.

I hadn't heard of Yongnuo, but a poke around the web reveals they are known for flashguns, and the lenses are apparently not bad for the price. They threaten Nikon lenses later this year, but nothing for my Pentaxes.

When I looked a little more I found someone in the UK selling new Canon lenses with the same spec for £62, so while the Yongnuo lenses may still be cheaper after duty, it isn't as big a price jump as I'd thought to the real thing.

What I'd love to know is why 50mm rather than say 35mm, which would be closer to a standard lens for most modern SLRs, but I suppose 50mm is just cheaper to build and make a profit at these sorts of prices.
