NO2ID MP letter thing

I got a reply from my MP today, thanking me for the letter I'd sent (via the link the no2id people sent out a couple of weeks ago) and confirming that he was voting against it, and had done in the past. Almost makes it worthwhile having a conservative MP.

I just checked out the no2id site. Very informative.

Out of curiosity, what kind of identification do you typically carry? Right now I have my state-of-California-issued driver's license, which serves for all but the rarest cases when someone needs to make sure I am who I say I am.

I carry a couple of bank and credit cards, neither with photos, and a VERY old UK drivers license which also isn't photo ID.

Well, any candidate who supported that sort of crap, regardless of party, is a miserable choice. What was his opponents' stance on such nonsense?

The standard Labour party line, which as I recall said very little about it.

Blair and his followers seem determined to combine the most annoying characteristics of Shrub and Clinton, with less guts than either. Why do they still call themselves "Labour"?

Well, they actually call themselves "New Labour", which is basically "Labour Lite", with all of the boring bits like socialism left out.
