CBS is going to run a new Star Trek tv series, debut in 2017.

"The show is scheduled to debut in 2017, so it will just miss the 2016 celebrations of the franchise's 50th anniversary. It will air with a premiere episode on CBS and then become available on CBS All Access, a US on-demand streaming-video platform that costs $5.99 per month. Producer Alex Kurtzman is known for his work on the rebooted Star Trek movies. - not director. JJ Abrams is still the director of Star Trek Into Darkness... not Kurtzman. Kurtzman was one of the writers though, yes.
