Crossposting to Livejournal isn't working

Livejournal is currently banning me from crossposting - they changed my password because it had apparently been the same one too long, but didn't tell me they'd done it for a few days - during which time I tried to cross-post from Dreamwidth (using the old password) twice. That apparently makes me a spammer in their eyes, and they've temporarily banned me. Hopefully normal service will be resumed shortly.

If it turns out to be crossposts from Dreamwidth as a whole they're banning this may take much longer to resolve of course. Until then I'll try to remember to post to both sites separately if crossposting doesn't work, but my memory is crap so don't count on it. Read me here rather than there to prevent missing anything.

I noticed that when I posted on Thursday. However, my password hadn't expired, as I went in to check it yesterday. (At some point in the last eighteen months, I reset my Livejournal password using a password manager, judging by the collection of characters that is currently my password.)

I think Putin's people may have a hand in this. Admittedly, I'm paranoid about him...

The Russian mob isn't making money off of crossposting...

I had the same (or a very similar problem) !
I must admit that it may be too much effort to resolve it.

I had a couple of emails telling me it was good practice to change password every six months, go and do it now, then a email saying they'd done it for me. Putting this together with snarky comments on other platforms, I assume they've once again failed to secure their password database but don't want to admit it to the paying customers, so this is their way of trying to re-secure it while blaming other people.
