Central Heating Update... Still Cold!
I forgot to update on this. The current state of play is that Baxi, who are the people who carry out repair work for people who have boilers covered by Domestic and General service plans, ended up quoting me more than £5000 above the actual cost of the replacement boiler, largely because they claim that they need to replace the gas pipes from the meter up to my flat. What they haven't done is give me a good reason why this is necessary - I've asked them, and I've asked Domestic and General, so far neither has explained. I would have thought a modern boiler would need less gas, not more.
Meanwhile my electricity consumption for the last month is about twice the previous month, hopefully gas use will be very low to make up for it to some extent.
To say that I'm not a happy bunny is to put it very mildly. I will not be using D&G for future extended warranties if this isn't sorted.
