Voluntary Payment?

As I convert my Forgotten Futures stuff to PDF I put it up on Drivethru RPG as free items.

But they also have an option to have things as "pay what you want" which includes the option to get them free of charge, and I can't help thinking that it wouldn't be a bad idea to give people the opportunity to support the game if they want to. At the moment visitors to my site see a "please help with the bills" Paypal link which on average gets one or two donations a year. People on Drivethru don't see that, and I think it might be a good idea to change to "pay as you want" with a message to make it clear that they don't have to, and mentioning that I'll donate 25% to Cancer Research UK.

Anyone think this is a good - or bad - idea?

I'd definitely would say use "pay what you want" for your games. The new interface that DTRPG is coming up with will make it easier for folks to pay a couple of quid for your games. Always set your suggested payment a minimum of 2 or 3 dollars or pounds.

PWYW doesn't hurt, but IME it doesn't usually result in a decent return on a game. Which, if you don't really care about that, doesn't really matter.

In which case, PWYW seems like a very good fit.
