Liz Marcs on Pearl Harbour and 9/11

I tend to treat the distortions of history as a joke in my games. But there's a much more serious side to it, distortion of history for political purposes.

If you don't already have [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs friended you may not have seen this. If you're at all concerned about current political trends it's well worth a look.

Thank you for the link. It's something everyone should read, IMHO.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to be late for Gaming now (like that's a first!) but it's for a good cause. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I've reposted a link in my own LJ because this should be read by others too.

She hit the nail right on the head. I was meant to be in one of the towers that day to run a training class (for an extended period). The company in question cancelled it the week before, throwing a lot of my plans awry considering that I had blocked out a 2 month period from other work, as well as already spent a couple of months preparing custom training material. Instead, I got to watch the event on television, and have my wife just sit and hug me, glad that I was home and not there.

It's all propoganda, and it's going to come back and bit those using it on the arse.

Thanks for posting the link. Of course, the propaganda piece she is referring to, The Path to 9/11 is on BBC2 tonight and tomorrow.

In Rhode Island, one state south of where she lives, VJ Day is still a state holiday. Gov't offices are closed, etc.

Just some US trivia for ya'. In case you were wondering, Rhode Island does not celebrate VE Day.
