Move your entire livejournal

[livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs has expanded on [livejournal.com profile] brown_betty's notes on backing up Livejournal accounts and moving them to Greatestjournal etc.

You can transfer everything including comments (with the exception of some embedded content and polls) to your own hard disk - this is fast and easy, and all of the original posts (but not comments, embedded stuff, or polls) to another blogging site - which works but goes slowly and is a bit of a pain.

So if I'm all over your friends list on Greatestjournal today that's why...

Actually, the backdating worked. You didn't spam my FList on GJ at all. *grins*

Some people only have a few friends on GJ, none of them posting much because it's their emergency journal, so it's possible I could swamp them. This lot is only the third or fourth time I've posted there, for example.

Yeah, I transferred my entire LJ "backlist" over to a MoveableType-powered blog a while back (humorously meaning that I moved from a site run by SixApart to a server using software written by SixApart).

To repeat what I said on Liz's journal (for the benefit of non-overlapping readers), LJ Book will convert your LJ history into a PDF, complete with pictures, comments, and links.

LJ Book notes that they will need your password to do so, and recommends changing it before you use it, then changing it back afterwards. I've used it, and it's great.
