Pointed out by so many people I've lost track where I saw it first, someone REALLY needs to write this up as fanfic / an RPG adventure / whatever.

I remember a story from a few years back - it was on Have I Got News For You, and it sent Paul Merton into one of his flights of fancy - about a British family being terrorised by a badger that besieged them, trapping them in their home.

Unknown to the public at large, this badger was captured by a secret quasi-governmental agency - the 'real' Torchwood, if you will - and used to create a deadly species of Death Badgers that is now being tested in Iraq.

On a more serious note, it does seem to demonstrate the way that an occupying force will receive the blame for things obviously unrelated - this is another of those generally but non-specific predictable things.

For some reason I misread this as "Darth Badgers" - some VERY odd imagery there!

I agree entirely about the occupying force being blamed for everything - it just seems unusually silly even by the "beastly huns raped nuns" standards so typical of the British press.

They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel if that's the best British atrocity they can come up with.

Maybe "badgers" is the Iraqi equivalent of "gang on PCP."
