Textbridge?

I think I need to look at getting a new OCR package - Omnipage has developed a nasty habit of crashing when I save documents, and I don't much like the current user interface anyway. I've just had an email about a "cheap" upgrade but it still costs about £70.

I've been wondering about trying Textbridge, which is I think about £40 if you get it as a download, but I don't know the program. Anyone got any views on it?

I might have a copy of textbridge you can have. I'll have to dig through old CDs to have a look, which I'll do as soon as I'm feeling human again.

That would be extremely kind! Even if it isn't the current release it'd give me an idea how accurate the OCR is etc.

I used to use an older version of Textbridge at the law office, and had to spend an awfully long time correcting errors. I've no idea what version they're on now, but I'd be reluctant to use it again without assurance that their OCR has been improved significantly.

OK, that's good to know - Omnipage is actually pretty good as an OCR package if it wasn't for the current problem, so I'll need to be careful. Most of the books I scan are pretty old with small weird typefaces.
