A Better Porter

I've reposted the automaton porter picture - something went wrong with the grey scale on that one so I've had to redo it, and found a much better picture to go with the automaton - bonus points (metaphorical ones) and steampunk-cred to anyone who spots who it is.

The picture is on last night's update and here

Later - reposted to fix the things everyone mentioned, I hope. The shop front still isn't wonderful but it's the best I could find, even Google came up empty on a shop window of the right type at the right angle etc.

It's a big improvement. I'd be tempted to do something about the reversed Waterstones name above the shop, though.

Bum - missed that. Amended image will follow shortly.

Three points: They look as if they are floating about 5cm above the ground; the shop front to the left is rather modern, and there is someone in more modern dress reflected in that window; and the tone of the man doesn't match the background, so he looks rather stuck on. But other than that, it's cute.

Damn, the floaty thing is supposed to look like they have shadows - can't get it to work properly. I'll have a bash at the tone.

Not sure what to do about the shop front. I noticed that it wasn't quite right for the period, didn't notice the reflection. Easy answer may be to crop that side a little, but I'll try to find a better answer.

I think I preferred the first one you posted. The man looks more stuck on, and his use of the coin slot looks wrong. Better to have him more seperate from the porter.
