katemonkey seems to have accidentally convinced me to upgrade to 500k broadband. One of her recent entries has a link to a page that was over a megabyte without images, and she downloaded it so fast she didn't notice the size. At 150k I noticed all right! So I've been brooding about it and eventually decided that I've been cutting off my nose to spite my face by keeping the speed so low, bit the bullet, and signed up for another 8 quid a month for triple the speed.

Now to find sites that make the speed worthwhile...

In related news, Telewest have just increased their standard broadband from 512 to 726, free of charge to all their users.

Plus they gave my techie mate the option to upgrade from his 2Meg connection to 3Meg for a extra tenner a month. He says he's never signed up for anything so fast in his life before.

We love Telewest.

Unfortunately we don't get Telewest service here, just NTL cable or BT and other phone-line ISPs.

But the service I upgraded to was 600k, not 500k, my mistake. I really like downloading vids at 70k a second!
