I had a cat that tried to do that for a while. She had figured out that opening doors had something to do with grabbing the knob, but she was never able to turn it. (I suspect that in this case, the door wasn't closed properly, and just needed a bit of a shove.)

I've never seen a cat that wasn't polydactyl that was able to do that... and that cat's paws don't look poly!
