Central Heating and extreme violence

Central heating is working again - the fan was the culprit so the repair only took about half an hour - and my flat is warming up nicely.

In other news, I seriously want to see this film

WARNING - NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY WORK SAFE TRAILER, VERY VIOLENT

Expect fanfic sooner or later if the rest of it lives up to the trailer.

My feeling is that this movie is going to be the Guilty Pleasure of 2010 for a lot of people -- it is just so over-the-top in terms of violence, dialogue and squick factor that it's laugh-out-loud funny. It would be nice to see Nicolas Cage get an Oscar nomination for his role as the Leave-it-to-Beaver father/mentor of the adolescent gun-fu hit-girl.

Not going to happen, is it?

My first thoughts on seeing the trailer was the anime/manga series "Gunslinger Girl" which doesn't have the gun-fu stuff but some of the similarities were equally squick-inducing when I first saw that.

Guilty? What is this guilt of which you speak?

What's really baffling is it's from the makers of Stardust..

Really? Hadn't noticed. I shall try to avoid expecting a tender fairy-tale love story.

... fantastic.

Yup.

But what about the snakes? Won't somebody please think of the snakes?

That trailer may be a bit misleading as to the amount of Hit-Girl to expect, if it'll be a straight adaptation of the comics.

There are a couple of other trailers linked from that page with lower Hit-Girl content, remember that's the ultra-violent R rated trailer.

Great Googly-Moogly, it's as if Rorschach of Watchmen started out killing people as an eleven-year-old girl.

My jaw is on the floor; I have to go pick it up now.

Definitely.
