I'm going to try to be as vague as I possibly can be, for the sake of anybody who might read this and still hasn't seen the Avengers, but the moment I heard Whedon was connected to the project I thought; "Coulson!"

Yep.

Interestingly, he's apparently Peter Parker's high school principal (and a deep cover SHIELD agent) in a new Spiderman animated series.
