This looks like it might be a lot of fun - they're basing it on the comic books which were sometimes very silly

Disney+, unfortunately, which means I won't be seeing it unless there's a DVD or it gets picked up by a British broadcaster or something.

Should I be worried that the new energy company I'm switching to is called Octopus Energy?

They seem to be OK, and I'll be saving a few pounds a month with no penalty if I switch to someone else, but I can't help wondering if I've just signed up with Hydra or Doc Oc...

If anyone else in the UK is interested, I get £15 for everyone who signs up via this link, so does the person signing:

All of the trailers in one vid - looks like fun and lots of baby Groot:

I'm beginning to feel a bit happier about the Ant-Man film - the second trailer gets very silly occasionally, e.g. a superhero battle aboard a model railway.

Still looks distinctly minor compared to other recent Marvel films, more on the lines of the pilot episodes for e.g. Flash, but I think it might be fun.

Meanwhile the trailer for the next Mission Impossible film makes me wonder what their team could do with the Marvel or DC universe, reinforces the idea that the Jeremy Renner character William Brandt is actually Clint Barton taking a break from SHIELD, and has me wondering why Tom Cruise is suddenly starting to look uncannily like Captain Jack Harkness in some shots.

Season 2 of the Netflix Daredevil will feature The Punisher.

Never been a huge fan of the Punisher, but until this year I wouldn't have said I was a huge fan of Daredevil, so fingers crossed.

...Age of Ultron is launching here eight days earlier than in the USA, and it's curry day at the Weatherspoon's pub on the floor below the Vue cinema in Shepherds Bush.

It's always been obvious that Howard Stark was modelled on Howard Hughes - there's plenty of evidence for this in comics and the movies, e.g. clothing choices, general appearance, lifestyle, etc.

So should we assume that there was no Howard Hughes? In particular, if I want to write a story with Hughes aircraft, such as the Spruce Goose, should I say they were developed by Stark? Or that Stark designed them for Hughes who was the financial head of another company, not its engineering genius? That way there can still be Hughes aircraft around, such as Apache helicopters etc., with Stark doing some of the designing for them when they run into technical problems their own engineers can't handle.

Any thoughts?

This is a sequel to London Calling, set several weeks later. You don't need to have read that first but it won't hurt. I have no idea how quickly I'll get this written, don't expect quick updates.

As the Queen's birthday approaches Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis are making plans to return to the USA, Thor and Captain America are expected in London to attend the Trooping of the Colours, and weird things are stirring on Alderney, one of the Channel Islands...

Pointed out by [livejournal.com profile] dsample on another site: Thanks to a deal between Marvel and Sony, a future Marvel film, which seems likely to be the next Captain America movie, will include Spider-man.

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/02/09/its-finally-happening-spider-man-joining-marvel-cinematic-universe

Now if they can do a similar deal for the X-Men we might start to see an Avengers lineup a little more like the comics!

later - apologies - I originally made the Captain America appearance seem more certain than it is.

...The Marvel universe has its own version of Clara Oswin, and his name is Stan Lee. He seems to turn up somewhere in the background of most historic events involving superheroes, and his apparent age varies wildly - the 1940s version looks OLDER than the one that appeared in the 1990s etc. He's either a time traveller or someone with a LOT of eerily similar dopplegangers, either would bear investigation by e.g. SHIELD.

Use it if you want it, a credit would be nice.

A longer version of the Age of Ultron trailer which starts out with the Avengers relaxing together, and has a few seconds more action at later points:

Marvel has announced dates for the next tranche of movies after Avengers 2 (LATER - And Ant Man, which I'd completely forgotten until it was mentioned in comments, which may be a big problem since it looks to be a common reaction). The source is here:

http://io9.com/marvel-debuts-their-new-phase-3-movies-including-capta-1651832265

Captain America 3: Civil War on May 6th, 2016
Doctor Strange on November 4th, 2016
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on May 5th, 2017
Thor 3: Ragnarok on July 28th, 2017
Black Panther on November 3rd, 2017
Captain Marvel on July 6th, 2018
Inhumans on November 2nd, 2018
Avengers: Infinity War Part One in May 2018
Avengers: Infinity War Part Two in May 2019

Really don't see how the Civil War storyline works without mutants etc. (the X-men and Spiderman aren't part of the world for these movies) but they seem to be saying that there will be events in earlier movies that will make governments demand regulation. I presume that this means that Avengers: Age of Ultron will involve a LOT of property damage, and with SHIELD officially out of the picture and Hydra using a lot of power-crazed supers (in Agents of SHIELD etc.) there's a turf war over control.
ffutures: (marcus 2013)
Agents of SHIELD S2 will start to air in the UK on Friday at 8 PM on C4.

Are we told Sam Wilson's rank in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

We're told he's a specially trained USAF Pararescue veteran - looking at the Wikipedia article on this organisation, most of the notable people it mentions (e.g. the medal winners etc.) seem to be sergeants. Does it seem reasonable to give him that rank if it isn't mentioned in the film? Do we ever see him in uniform?

Comics are unfortunately no help because he has a completely different background there.

Thanks!
