Neverwhere

Since I've got nowhere with Amazon's so-called help desk and the US vendor I've decided to cut my losses and sell off the duplicate purchase I mentioned a while ago. What I'm actually selling is Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, the two-DVD US release (and why has there never been a UK release?), which appears to be pretty rare in this country.

If you're interested it's on eBay here. The auction ends on Wednesday since I'll be at Novacon next weekend.

I'm also selling off Insectia, an interesting but a little dated 4-DVD natural history series. Listed here

Bid early and often, folks...

UPDATE Maybe I'd better point out that Neverwhere has already been bid up past Amazon's price for it, even with transatlantic postage.

OK, have done!

Is the Insectia one understandable for reasonably bright 10-12 year olds? It loooks like the sort of thing my kids would like, but I wanted to check it's not too advanced. They love the "Life of..." series by David Attenborough.

It's basically as much about human attitudes to insects as it is about their biology - my main problem with it, and my reason for selling, is that there isn't enough science, a lot of it is the presenter chatting to tribesmen, buying bugs in markets, etc.

OK, I think I'll pass on that one then. Thanks.

Huh.. could have sworn Neverwhere came out on UK dvd at some point, but by an obscure company. Kinda like how Crime Traveller did.

Doesn't appear to be. There was a video release, I think, but no DVD as far as I know.

Ah, hello. Big Neil Gaiman fan here. For your information, Neil mentioned on his blog recently that although the American DVD is listed as Region One, it is actually Region Zero.

Looks up the text: "The truth is that the US release of Neverwhere on DVD is Region Zero, and not, as advertised, Region One, so you can watch it anywhere in the world. I'd love it if the BBC would release the original, obviously, although really I'd like it best if they could recut it, restore lost scenes, fix the look of it, and put in something that wasn't a big old cow as the Great Beast of London..."

So there you go. You might want to add that to your Ebay listing.

You're welcome.

That's weird, I can't get ebay to take the change.

Maybe it's just as well - it's possible that they've changed it at some stage, I can't open it to check without changing it from new to used.

Oh well. So be it. So long as it goes to a worthy buyer, that's what I always say!
