Highlander / Top Gear Drabble - Hiding In Plain Sight II

Highlander / Top Gear crossover, suggested indirectly by Don Sample's Slayer in a Reasonably Priced Car. All characters belong to their respective creators etc., there is no intent to infringe on copyright. This story may not be distributed on a profit-making basis.

Hiding In Plain Sight is an earlier drabble which has no connection to this one other than the title.

Hiding In Plain Sight II
by Marcus L. Rowland

"What do you mean, Ritchie's alive?" shouted Duncan McLeod.

"You were out of your mind with the demon possession," said Methos, "so I helped him fake his death; shot you with a taser so you'd think you'd taken his quickening. He's fine, but he's still hiding from you.

"So what's he doing? He can't race any more."

"You'd be surprised."

In a studio thousands of miles away the presenter faced the camera and said "Some say his buttocks are made out of rubber, others claim that he's risen from the dead. All that we know is, he's called The Stig..."

End.

Best explanation I've seen so far...and thanks for pointing me at the other one!

Though my inner punctuation/grammar monster dearly wants to either put a semicolon after "fake his death" or an "and".

I'll go with the semicolon, keeps the word count at 100. Thanks!

Not really a fanfic type, but fun :-)

Also gave the other one a look, shame he suggests changing model of car rather than just to the back up they have on site, ruins the logic a bit. Would have commented but you had to register and everything to do that and, did I mention, not really a fanfic type...

I had to get Buffy into the Liana to qualify her for going onto the F1 Leaders' Board.

Got me, sorry I hadn't realised that's what they did with the GP stuff. In that case it makes a lot of sense and just felt wierd because I did remember them going to a back up Chevy but not making the GP drivers still use the Suzuki.

Literally LOL! Will give me a smile all day that one.

Raises hand I was actually going to peg him as being Hammond. They're both short and after that jet car incident he's been proven to be unkillable.

Of course if he'd been Black Stig that would explain the whole "Launch a car off the edge of the Invincible" moment. It wouldn't have killed him,. but it would have taken him forever to walk back home.

Yes, I think too much.

Ha. Excellent.

Very good!

I wonder if it might be worth emailing it to Top Gear (preceded by a quick sentence or two of witty introduction/explanation of drabbles, The Highlander, and the quickening) on the off-chance Jeremy Clarkson might read out your email on the show.

No thanks - believe it or not there's quite a lot of Top Gear fanfic and most of it is slash, so I'd imagine they're wary of it. Generally speaking benign neglect is the best reaction to fanfic from anyone in a position to take legal action etc.

Top Gear slash? I had no idea such a thing existed, but now you've told me about it... yeah... I can see the possibilities. Not to mention the endless permutations with all those stars in reasonably priced cars.

You've made my brain melt. No more words possible, except for thank you - this is wonderful!
