Adventures Ho!

I seem to be starting on the adventures, which (as discussed some months ago) will have the section title "Have Spacesuit, Will Travel" and acknowledge Heinlein in the credits.

I need some sort of illustration to symbolize the idea of two-fisted action SF adventures on alien planets, but it needs to be out of copyright and not too inappropriate for 1930s SF. I think that the sort of thing I need is a man, a woman, a rocket, and some sort of alien beastie dying horribly as they zap it with ray guns.

Another possibility is something expressing dramatic tension, e.g. this still from the 1930 SF musical Just Imagine:

But it's all too easy to give it a very slashy interpretation.

Any suggestions?

I'm sure that someone, somewhere has scanned and posted the covers from the old Analog and so on. Perhaps there's something on one of those that is adaptable?

Probably still in copyright. Just Imagine is out of copyright, and screen shots, production stills etc. seem to be fair game.

You say that like it's a bad thing :-)

Not necessarily, but it doesn't quite fit the mood I'm aiming for.
