Free web sites

Just back from my niece's wedding; a reasonably nice civil ceremony in Islington Town Hall, followed by a reception at a pub in Highgate. Everything went pretty well, thank Cthulhu, the bride looked radiant, and I have 50-odd photos to get organised, on CD and hopefully as a web site. My brother-in-law ought to have some free web space, but he's never accessed it and may not know the password, and I don't really want to wait until he can contact technical support on Monday or later.

Can anyone recommend any free web hosting service that isn't plastered in advertising, which will let me open an account on a Sunday and won't mind a site that will probably have a lot of hits at first, and a big initial download, then probably fizzle off to relatively little afterwards.

Tried Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/)?

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a free web hosting service that doesn't have advertising and pop-ups.

If you just want to host photos, then fotopic is quite good as, unlike with photobucket, you can create proper thumbnail albums and change colour schemes and layout.
It's free and there isn't much annoying advertising.

Can't seem to reply to comments at the monment, due to some problem with the server, but Fotopic does look reasonably good if I can't get into bro-in-law's web space. Photobucket is OK for smaller pics, but I think some of the pictures I have will stretch their 250k limit. If I'm wrong about that I can use my own site for the page and host the pictures on photobucket.

This may not be exactly what you want, but how about here:

I thought that this wasn't live yet?

Also, there isn't enough room there - most of the pictures are around 750k

Ah well, can't help there. Sorry!

Officially, I believe it's not live yet (as indicated on the home page), so you would be taking a small chance if you chose to use it. However, it seems to be up and running for paid members.

I understand LiveJournal itself acts as a picture host for paid members, but have no idea where to look.
