Another illustration

This one will probably be a smallish filler illo.

Not 100% sure of the wording of this, maybe it should be "if the Sirians try to invade," "when" sounds like it's inevitable.

I might try some variations on WW1 recruiting posters too.

Monday 12.30 PM - I've changed it to:

Where will YOU be
When the Sirians attack?

The Imperial Navy and Marines need YOU!
Join the fight TODAY!

I think the original was too verbose, this feels a bit more like a real recruiting poster. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] autopope for the header, and everyone else for their comments.

Or just "if the Sirians invade", which has the punchiness of the original but the ambiguity of the latter.

Where will you be when your mates need you?

Sirian invasion

You don't recruit with a maybe. And where will you be could be stronger. How about:

Who'll Save Earth
When the Sirians invade

The Empire needs every man
To fight for the future of Earth
And the freedom of humanity!

I actually think that a government of the period might say "when" even if it actually was "if," hoping to encourage more enlistments. Assuming just a mild streak of jingoism, anyway.

I don't know, both seem a bit awkward to me. But then again, english isn't my first language. It just feels like there's a syllable to much for it to sound quite right.

"Where will you be when the Sirians attack?"

(Doesn't require a conditional, doesn't imply an enemy success in putting boots ashore.)

Thanks - that's just right, I think.
