This one's a Ford automaton of 1900 or thereabouts. Powered by compressed air (from a hose), has a rotating fitting for drills, saws, etc. as one hand and a gripper for the other. Dumb, easily panicked ("Where are the bolts? Where are the bolts?!"), I think it maybe looks a little too modern, so comments please.

I've updated the robot porter picture from my last post too, if anyone wants to take another look at that.

The porter is now much improved, but I think you need to practice your feathering on both that and this, to get rid of the haloes on the foreground elements. To make it less modern, how about some more riveted strips, going vertically down the body, like the one around the 'neck'?

Interesting, although the body reminds me of a (erm, I'm not sure if there's an equivalent word in English, the closest I can come up with is) field kitchen.

The porter looks better and better.

The body is actually part of a wood-burning stove. As is the body of the porter, which is made of three stoves - one for the body and two for the legs. They seemed to have the right sort of shape.

I've tried feathering, if anything it seemed to make things worse, and I'm beginning to think that another paint package may be the solution. This is a fairly elderly release of PaintShop pro and does seem to be showing its age.

I like it. I don't think it looks too modern. It's obviously a production model, and they always look smoother and more finished than prototypes. If you really feel the need, you could add rivets to it, but personally I don't think that's necessary.

the Ford logo of that time had no oval around it (at least I've never seen it on any Model-T pic)

Thanks - I'll change it.

I use Photoshop. The trick seems to be feather in, not out, if that makes any sense.
