I finally got round to watching Frozen last night - The plot twists on the usual Snow Queen story were quite fun. One thing I did notice was some interesting parallels between the ice palace sequence and a somewhat similar scene in Watchmen. And when I checked, I was not exactly the first person to notice:

There's even a vid:

It looks like there were others that have had their sound tracks muted due to takedown notices from Disney.

It's a shame that nobody seems to have done it the other way, with the Watchmen music etc. on the Frozen footage.

And if I haven't recced it before, there's a fun Frozen / Thor crossover fanfic series, in which Loki is Elsa's father:

A while ago I linked to this vid by [livejournal.com profile] bironic:

jetpack-monkey on Dreamwidth has remade it in a monochrome remix using footage exclusively from film and TV prior to 1969, so lots of Space Patrol, Fireball XL5, Forbidden Planet etc., with the shots as close as possible to the first vid.

I was walking through the park this afternoon and it occurred to me that the Captain Scarlet theme song would work very well for Captain Jack Harkness, with some obvious changes. So needless to say there are already Captain Harkness vids on those lines - the actual wording of the song hasn't been changed, which would be the obvious next step, but the idea works pretty well anyway:

Is there a filk version somewhere with appropriate lyrics?

Wednesday's charity shop bargain was the complete series of Mr. Benn, a British children's animated series beloved by viewers of a certain age, for £1

This caused memory to very slowly stir, and I eventually remembered that somewhere I'd seen some Mr. Benn / Invisibles fanfic.

And eventually Google found it for me....

Mr. Benn: Invisible by dontmakeeyecontact

Worth a look if you like the Invisibles (or like Mr. Benn and can put up with a VERY strange adventure with lots of swearing, gratuitous violence, sexual ambivalence, etc.)

[livejournal.com profile] md_kiryu has posted an absolutely brilliant end title video for a Dr. Who spinoff based on one of the series most beloved married couples, Madame Vastra and Jenny.

Now if the BBC would just make the show...

I recced this on [livejournal.com profile] calufrax a few days ago and thought I'd rec it here too - an absolutely perfect crossover between Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe stories and Doctor Who, pitch-perfect for both fandoms and for the eras in which it is set. Strongly recommended!

The Orchid Thief by Leviathan

"Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin have solved a lot of tough cases in their careers as detectives. But never one like the one that begins with the new arrival in the Plant Rooms. Before it ends, they'll deal with a tattooed lady, miniaturized corpses, and Things from Another World!"

The Middleblog is back for the first time in a VERY long time, with a long Dr Who / Middleman crossover story. Great fun, now if the BBC would only let them make it as an episode...

If you're a fan of the web comic Girl Genius you'll probably want to read this...

Sparkgate: Agatha and the Grasp of the Serpent God by Samarkand

Summary: There are nigh infinite variant timelines surrounding that of the Stargate universe we know. Most turn out badly as one choice or another dooms Earth. One, however, is unusual in that a chance refugee from another branch of Earth's many alternate universes provides some...unexpected effects. There may be maniacal cackling. There probably will be tesla coils. There most certainly will be elegantly crafted death rays. Discover what happens when the Milky Way Galaxy discovers what the Spark of mad genius can do. Steampunk and science fiction collide in...SPARKGATE! FOR SCIENCE!

Warning, it's a work in progress.

Something for [livejournal.com profile] rozk and other fans of both shows - a Farscape / Ugly Betty crossover

Framed

Betty tries to get Aeryn Sun, an alien visitor to Earth, to model for a feature on Christmas party dresses. Aeryn, trained since birth to be a combat pilot in her people's military, doesn't really understand dresses or non-practical shoes.

It's short and it's fun.

This is a weird one - a Doctor Who / Diane Duane's "Young Wizards" crossover that works perfectly, and explains a LOT about Donna, the Tenth Doctor, etc. It helps considerably if you know both universes, of course. The crossover is (not quite explicit but almost) Young Wizards canon.

This is a link to the LAST part, which has links to all the rest

It's a Watchmen / Batman crossover, and a very good one. Helps if you know the current Batverse, but it isn't essential.
