I think I would favor putting what Darcy types in italics, or even in bold, and not trying to represent it with quotes at all. I would not recommend trying to make it block quotes, as the quoted text is run into your own running text, and that would have to be broken out and put on a separate line, which is just way too messy. But definitely lose the quotation marks; they more obscure the joke than anything else.
