I have an idea for a follow-up to my Thor story - this time short and not too serious. One of the things in there is this conversation between Thor and Tony Stark - does it seem right for the characters?

“Man of Iron!”

“Hey, Thor, how’s it going?”

“Well! We were attacked by Hydra in London, and many of their agents have been captured.”

“I heard something about that, but the reports were a little confusing. Something about helpful mutants?”

“It was actually wizardry, but I am not supposed to say so. I was told that your head might explode if you tried to understand it.”

“Magic... Riiight... Okay, leaving that for the moment (goes on to explain the current problem)"

Does this seem plausible for them - especially, Tony Stark dropping the topic so easily?

As far as the dialogue goes, I might change Tony's exit line to "Magic . . . riiiight . . . " and then start talking about the current problem, without even a transition, to convey a total failure to process. What do you think?

Thor's summary of the situation might work better in the active voice, and I think it would sound, well, more Thorlike: "Hydra attacked us in London, and we captured many of their agents."

Yes, that seems plausible - thanks!

I think it depends on what Tony's current problem is. He can be very self centered.

Yes - I'm showing him as pretty busy which does fit with dropping rather than pursuing it.

I think Tony could very well file that under "Thor being Thor," but he would keep it in mind to ask someone else about later.

That works too; thanks!

Having seen what Thor and Loki can do, I'd see Tony as less likely to dismiss magic entirely and more one to mutter under his breath about Clarke's (3rd) law, really. And he's adaptable and pragmatic enough to stop arguing about the terminology of it and start angling for a chance to get some wizards into a lab where he can try to reverse engineer what they do before too long.

With catastrophic effects, of course.

"Tell me about it later tonight, over beers. I'll bring a mop." (goes on to explain current situation)
