I've uploaded a new version of Taking the Tunnel - it adds improved illustrations and a couple of very minor grammatical changes, but file size has gone up to 724k.

It's still on line as http://homepage.ntlworld.com/forgottenfutures/tunnel/tunnel.pdf

All comments gratefully received.

...triggered by last night's bedtime reading, a JLA compilation. If you ever rewrite / update Forgotten Futures VI, don't forget to include some notes on the Manga Khan school of supervillain rhetoric.

Got another nice book for the Forgotten Futures "Clubs" collection; The Log of the Flying Fish by Harry Collingwood (died 1922 so OK for copyright), in which various members of "The Migrant's Club", an explorer's club, go adventuring and visit various parts of the world in a flying machine / submarine. Apparently the first of three stories, according to the Clute encyclopaedia, and it's illustrated! The cover picture is a diver menaced by some sort of eels, and the frontispiece has someone being chased by a mammoth, so it ought to be good fun. Annoyingly there doesn't seem to be a picture of the whole machine, though the description is moderately detailed. I may work up the stats as per the flying machine rules in FF VII or FF IX, or just use the idea of the club, once I've a better idea of the quality of the story. I have a feeling it's the sort of book for which the phrase "A rattling good yarn" was invented, e.g. aimed primarily at younger action-orientated readers. We shall see...
