Tweeting query

Several of my friends on Dreamwidth and Livejournal post lists of their tweets fairly often. Usually they are truncated, often losing part of the URL for whatever the person is tweeting about. Is there some app for this that is set for an obsolete length of tweet, or is there something I'm missing?
