Odd X-men thought...

Emma Frost turns into diamond (or some other diamond-hard material) when she uses her powers. If she used a suitably sharp implement to trim her fingernails in that form, would the bits that came off stay as diamond when she turned back? If so, what are the industrial uses of small curved bits of diamond?
