Fun with Amazon

ffuturesI need a new "dustbin on wheels" type vacuum cleaner, and it looked like the one I wanted was cheapest on Amazon - then having put it into my basket (not, you will note, having actually ordered the thing) I discovered that the price was a "Prime" price with no other order option, and that you automatically joined Amazon Prime by putting it in your basket. I received their "welcome" email about 20 seconds later.
Since I rarely buy on Amazon I didn't want Prime membership, as it happens.
So I eventually figured out how to cancel renewal of my "trial membership"(and must remember to make sure that it is indeed cancelled when the membership is supposed to renew). Then went to see who else was selling the vacuum cleaner at a similar price, and discovered that
(a) Tool Station has it at the same price new with free deliver on eBay and
(b) when I went to pay for it I got a message that I could use an eBay money off code to get another £8.16 off. Which I did...
And there was much rejoicing - and more evidence that I really want to keep Amazon as the last choice for use only when all other options have failed.
