Bloomsbury have already posted profit warnings for next year, and announced that they're open to submissions from potention JKR successors. In practice I suspect that they can mine the seam for a couple more years with Guides and Encyclopedias (and possibly a Christmas Annual) before the bubble bursts completely.

The Lord of the Rings is still selling.

There will be special collector's editions, and they're probably getting a piece of the movie deals. They will probably continue to make a steady income off the books for decades to come, just not as much as they have been over the last few years.

I wonder if she'll bother writing anything else. Seems to me with the last couple her heart (or possibly her editors balls) weren't in it.

I wouldn't be suprised if she was just fulfilling her 7 book contract and then didn't write anything else for ages. She's already mentioned she _might_ write a Harry Potter universe with the characters as 20 somethings (notice, I don't say specifically which characters as I can't remember if she did and so have nowhere near enough of an idea for this to be a spoiler)

It'd kind of make sense because much like the Matrix trilogy, carrying on past her first idea could just end up proving that she really isn't that special and just lucked out on the right idea at the right time. If that happened it could even damage her existing money stream...
