Another fine chapter in what is proving a very entertaining story. My compliments on showing how a conflict can escalate from a very trivial matter to the possibly of something truly tragic on a series of misunderstandings and lost communication cues.
One of the reasons that I found it difficult to get into the Potter books, I never really did, was the author's tendency to dismiss the non-magical world. There seemed to be the general attitude that if anything was of muggle origin it wasn't worth knowing. I was waiting for one of the 'good' wizards to make the statement, "Don't get me wrong. Some of my best friends are Muggles." It's very interesting to read a story where this attitude can be dangerous.
It was a very interesting dramatic choice to include Spike in this story. I've found that a lot of post NFA stories that have him working with the Scoobies have a certain 'forced' aspect to them. However I have complete confidence in you being able to include him in this story.
Thank you very much for sharing this story with us
