ffuturesI just realised that Mecon, the Northern Ireland unicon, runs on the 29th-31st August. And that I have to be at work on September 1st...
Right now I suspect that this means I will have to skip the con - I was hoping to do it by rail and sea and have a real break, and I really don't want to have to fly instead, especially if it means coming back from Ireland on a Sunday evening with work the following morning.
The really annoying part is that there are no kids in that day (or the next couple after it), it's just teacher training, but we aren't allowed to take leave on those days for reasons that don't actually make a lot of sense to me.
