Anyone here capable of taking a Midi recording apart and removing everything except the drum track? Or simply seamlessly looping the opening bit (which is drums only) so that it will play the same beat for several minutes. If I understand Midi correctly both are possible, but I know nothing about the actual mechanics.

The tune, incidentally, is "We Will Rock You" if anyone feels like giving it a shot

Just need a bit of soundtrack for the RPG.

Given a MIDI file to work with, sure. You can mute all the other tracks, or just delete them.

You have a Mac, right? Load the MIDI file into Garageband and go wild.

OK, I'll give it a try if I can figure it out. I've never used the software.

Well, I edited it, but it sounds very different in garageband and I can't figure out how to save it as a midi file - won't be much use if I want to include it on the disk for all users.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, no. Now that I think about it I've only exported to mp3 from Garageband.

MP3 might be OK, depends what it sounds like. How do I do that?

"Share" -> "Export Song To Disk..."

But it will export the sound exactly as it sounds when Garageband plays it, so you'll want to play around with instrument settings until you like it.

OK, I'll give it a go.

Here (http://www.nyrond.co.uk/tunes/rockyoud.mid). This should work--all I've done is strip out the non-drum tracks.

Sorry it took me so long...MIDI stuff on separate machine.

Doesn't seem to want to open, I'm afraid. No idea why.

Sorry - it does, for some reason the PC has to save it, won't just play it in situ. Sound is WAY better on the Mac. And I forgot to say MANY thanks, just what I need.
