ffuturesToday's offering from Free Download a Day looks interesting for anyone heavily into instant messaging etc.
Not that I want to use it myself, but Digsby seems to work with all of the common instant messaging formats, also email notifications and feeds from some social networking sites, so you only have one program open rather than three or four. There's only a Windows version at present, they're working on Mac etc. I should emphasise that this isn't a program I'd want to use myself so I haven't tested it, have no idea if there is any down-side.
