Another version of the Jupiter page - this time I'm flowing the text close around the picture rather than putting the illustration behind the text. It means that some of the text and the table of moons goes onto the next page, but I can live with that.

about 79k - I like this, but does the text flow work?

The last alternative is a rather more conservative layout, but maybe is the most readable - this time I've just kept the text to the right of the picture with a straight margin.

and the original is here, with the image lightened some more:

I like the first one best. The curve of the text margin is quite mesmerising!

I'm... honestly happy with both. The first has more of an original flair and is more interesting on the page. The second is easier to read...

Wouldn't like to pick between them.

I think the key words there are "easier to read" - thinking back, a lot of the RPG material I've disliked has put graphics behind the text, mostly to discourage copying. Since that isn't a factor here I'm probably best off avoiding it.

I like the column better than the wraparound. But wrapping the left-hand edge is going to be harder to read than wrapping the right. I'd consider flipping the image and putting it on the right side, and wrapping the text around that. (Also adding another pica or two to the wrap distance.) This would also follow the cartographic convention of putting south at the bottom, rather than the astronomers' convention of putting it at the top.

Tried it, it really doesn't work with the text at all well. Thanks anyway.

You may well have a point.
