I've finished most of the bike repairs yesterday and today. For those with a morbid interest, the "Before" pictures are here.

I'll do some After pictures when the weather is nicer.

The main thing left to do now is replace the speedometer "glass" (actually some sort of plastic) which has gone cloudy due to heat - they don't sell it except as part of an instrument cluster, so I need to get a piece of perspex cut to size.

Hi,

I'm a member of a tech workshop collective called London Hackspace and have access to a laser cutter. I'm not safety trained on it yet but I hope to be on Tuesday and will be slicing myself some 2mm acrylic if I can get it in time. Will this do the trick? If so, do you need a circle (let me know the diameter) or another shape? If not a circle, do you think you could draw it in Inkscape?

It's a circle 80mm in diameter. 2mm thick ought to be fine, if you can spare it. Don't worry if you can't, I've found an on-line company that cuts it and doesn't look ridiculously expensive.

Do you have my address etc.?

I'll stick an 80mm on the sheet plan and let you know how it goes.

I'm sorry, I wasn't able to do this last night. I had to leave early. I'm v frustrated - I have the acrylic and I have the .dxf (for my foolish project as well as your dial cover) but was summoned away because [livejournal.com profile] gryffin23 was tired. Hackspace time and wife time don't really correspond very closely.

Should I look at alternatives? Really won't cost much if I buy it, and it might save you trouble.

I'm really sorry but I think that would be best.

I'm glad and I'm sorry - I might have been able to manage next weekend somehow but it is better that you've not had to wait. I hope my offer didn't end up causing inconvenience.

Not at all - in fact the extra time meant I found a cheaper supplier than the first one I'd looked at.
