Odd Doctor Who crossover thought.

Jenny (the maid in last week's episode, not the Doctor's daughter) was, or becomes, Pirate Jenny from the Threepenny Opera, with the space pirates from the episode a few weeks ago operating the Black Freighter.

This needs someone a lot more musical than me to write it.

Of course Jenny in The Threepenny Opera was a maid, in a brothel, dreaming of being a pirate, so there is a connection.

As I think I've mentioned before, I'm amused the pirate ship in the song has become a black freighter in what I believe is Mark Blitzstein's translation. In the original, it's "ein Schiff mit acht Segeln/ Und mit fünfzig Kanonen" - a ship with eight sails and with fifty cannons, neither black nor a freighter it would appear.

I do sort of know better, I just like the Watchmen version ;-)

The Blitzstein translation predates Watchmen by at least 30 years. I got to know the song first in German on record and the early German film version, and wondered why people kept referring to this black freighter.
