Paging Wikipedia Experts

I've just added a photo gallery with a couple of photos to an entry - can anyone think of any reason why the gallery and photos aren't visible, even though they're in the code for the page?

How about a URL so I can look at the code?
Usually, it's due to not closing an opening statement; sometimes it's got something to do with quirky templates.

Just looked at this again and realised that the links to the photos (which Wikipedia generated!) are missing underscores between the words - but fixing this does not make the photos appear, no idea why.

Looked at it just now and the picture filenames have spaces in them. Spaces in filenames are evil and can cause all sorts of errors.

Underscores are only for external URLs, not for use internally within WikiMedia markup language.

You should have read the instructions at:

I fixed it; but there's a lot of "notables" there who are redlinked.

Yes, you can't use external file tags "[[file:filename.jpg|thumb|caption]]" inside of gallery tags. I fixed it for you Marcus, and it looks good.

Many thanks! WTF does Wikimedia Commons give a default gallery syntax which Wikipedia can't use?

Each Wikimedia project uses slightly different software tools, in part because their purposes are different. I don't spend much time in Commons, for example, and couldn't tell you a thing about their markup language. Once I went to the right page within Wikipedia, though, even a non-coding Macuser like myself could make it work.

With hindsight I should have grabbed a gallery from another page and edited it.
