For some reason I'm having a lot of trouble visualising the Earth with a different rotational axis. Can anyone point me at a globe program that does this and shows continental outlines only, not the icecaps?

I can get a Chinese takeaway delivered to my door in about 40 minutes, and this suggests that it would take 42 minutes plus a few seconds each way (http://www.qi.com/talk/viewtopic.php?p=670567) via such a tunnel.
