Are these getting a little too repetitive? This one's BtVS / Harry Potter, some character death.

Mistaken Identity III

By Marcus L. Rowland

"Get her wand," said Crabbe.

Goyle searched the woman. "Here we go. Wonder why it's so sharp?"

"Could be a stake."

"Think she's the Slayer?"

"Naah.. caught her too easily."

"Doesn't matter. Muggle, Slayer, or Witch, we give her to the Dark Lord, we'll be Death Eaters."

"Is that all you want?" asked the woman. The ropes that bound her vanished. "Why didn't you ask?"

"Ask?" said Crabbe, gaping.

"I grant wishes."

"I wish we were Death Eaters," said Goyle, before Crabbe could stop him.

"Wish granted," said Anya. The potion she materialised in their mouths killed them instantly. "Suckers..."

I like it, but with Anya, mightn't it work better with Pansy Parkinson and Millicent Bulstrode instead of Crabbe and Goyle?

Maybe, but somehow you can get away with calling "Crabbe" and "Goyle" just that, whereas I think you can't quite do that with Pansy and Millicent, I'd need to give the full names at least once, which screws up word count.

I'm not sure you would need to use full names. Pansy and Millicent should be fairly obvious, and that's coming from someone who isn't heavily into the HP fandom.

If, however, you want to use full names, maybe converting this sentence:

"Is that all you want?" asked the woman. The ropes that bound her vanished. "Why didn't you ask?" (18 words)

to:

"Is that all you want?" she asked. The ropes around her vanished. "Why didn't you ask?" (16 words)

"She asked" doesn't quite work since Anya hasn't previously said anything, but I just replaced Crabbe and Goyle with Pansy and Millicent and it feels okay, so I think I'll stick with that.

No not repetative. I like hearing all sorts of mistaken identies, so these amuse me. I'm not sure if I don't agree with Tara, that this scenario might work better with Millicent or Pansy, as Anya would be more inclined to be around women, or grant their wishes.

See above, but I see what you both mean about women. How recognisable are they on first names only, and which one would you say was generally considered the most stupid?

Well, I think the first names are very recognizable, particularly if you label this a BtVS/HP drabble. Millicent is generally written as being lumpish and doltish, with Pansy as cruel and vicious. I'd go with Millicent being the stupider of the two.

Wow! Without thinking about personalies I did a search and replace and it came out that way, so you are obviously right.
