Phil and Kaja Foglio's amazing comic Girl Genius is going on line. While the site isn't fully operational yet, they've got a couple of dozen pages on line for test purposes, enough to get into the story, and it ought to be fully operational on the eighteenth.

Don't think an RSS feed is planned, which is a bit of a shame, but it is definitely worth a look if you like steampunk, weird science, or their work. And don't forget to hit the PayPal button once they get it working...

You have good taste, Marcus. But alas, I already have all the issues bar one, and all the trades anyhow. :)

Now, if they finally traded the Buck Godot series, then I'd be a very happy Booster.

I'm so glad they're doing this! My husband and I have been fans of GG pretty much since it started, but with all their publishing problems, we've pretty much been starved out. It will be nice to have new content on a regular basis, and then the pretty pretty graphic novels when all is said and done!

I'm dying to meet some of the characters from the GG card game . . .

In a sense it isn't good news, because it means it hasn't paid its way as a printed comic - mostly thanks to really crap distribution.

It's not really even that. They've had a couple of publishers/printers bail on them at critical junctions, leaving them high and dry, so they haven't been able to meet their distribution obligations, which means the distributors don't trust them so won't carry them. It's a vicious cycle, but hopefully this self publishing will help that. And of course the ever faithful fen who spread the word.

Also available in chunks of dead tree

I heard from a third party (and it's confirmed on their web site) that they'll still be printing the comic, but just in TPB form. I understand this translates to "almost the same amount of money, for a lot less hassle".

I wish them well, they're nice folks - let me liven up a Powerpoint talk I had to give at work with some of their GG characters. (Bangladesh Dupree highlights the perils of falling foul of the Official Secrets Act: heh heh heh...)
