At present the "news" bit of my web pages is hand coded, I just add entries at the top and take them away at the bottom as things happens. I've only added three or four entries this year, so it isn't a huge deal, but one effect of doing it this way is that the older stuff disappears, and that I have to edit out stuff to keep it at manageable length. Since I have two sites I have to do everything twice.

I'm beginning to think that it might be a better idea to get another LJ account (or another type of blog) for posting this sort of thing and have an RSS feed from it, with appropriate code on each of the web pages. Needless to say I have no idea how to do this...

First, am I right to think that I can only do this from a paid LJ account (in which case I'll stick to hand coding)? Second, can I do this in a basic HTML page or does it need to be something rather more elaborate?

later Tried the different methods at home - looks like the version I like best is the one that works with a free account, which is good news. I'll be setting up another LJ account for it, probably not worth friending because I'd imagine that most of it will be repeating stuff that appears here anyway.

You can do it from a free account, my hubby (faintfuzzies) is planning to embed his on his web page as soon as it's all up and running. Otherwise, I never would have got him on LJ in a million years. ;-)
