...noticing that muzak in the pub is a very poor jazz piano version of Back in the USSR, lengthened interminably and lacking all of the original tunes' drive.

Many years ago, I had a job in an office that had Muzak playing. At one point, an elderly women customer said to me that she was glad we didn't play that awful rock and roll. As it happened, what was playing at that moment was a Beatles hit—it might have been "Hey Jude."

What could I say? I said, "No, we don't."

I can imagine - the pub has good food but I really don't want to eat there often if they keep playing Muzak.
