RIP Sam Snake, 1994(?) - 2012

I'm sorry to have to report that Sam, the oldest of my snakes, died some time yesterday afternoon. He was eighteen or nineteen and had been refusing to eat for some time, so it wasn't entirely a surprise - but it's always sad when a pet dies.



Sam is on the right and wrapped around his mate Cornelia (who died a few years ago) in the picture above - I don't seem to have a good recent picture, unfortunately.

He's survived by his daughter Murphy, born 1998, her boyfriend Cobb (also 1998 and hopefully not a close relative), and various other children and grandchildren, I couldn't begin to give a count now.

I suppose. It's a shame, he was a real sweetheart as snakes go, by far the easiest to handle.

He was pretty ancient as corn snakes go, and I could see he wasn't at his best, but at that age there really isn't much that you can do apart from trying to feed them and keep them under good conditions.

On the whole I suppose it's for the best.
