Another day, another walk to view the latest engineering marvels from the bridge down the end of the road. Most of Giant Tunnelling Machine of Doom "Phyllis" has now disappeared from view, though I don't think actual tunnelling has begun yet, but I can see the end of her still. "Ada" is still being assembled a little further west.

After that I walked along the canal a few hundred yards to the top of Goldbourne Road, and saw some nice geese and took a couple of scenic photos

After that, as I was walking the last few yards to Portobello Road, I noticed a little reminder at a recycling point that the area isn't always as quiet as I would like...

Portobello Road was its usual self, but I didn't find many real bargains - some stuff for work from Poundland, some cheese, and a DVD from the Oxfam shop, and that was about it. But it was a lovely day and a nice walk, so I'm not complaining.

I wonder how often anyone tries to get knives out of the knife bin...

It looks like it's made of VERY thick steel, moved into place by a crane, and presumably can only be opened by the police.
