I just read the part of the fic you did.

Spike's speculation regarding the Initiative and the possibility of vampiric slave colonies just tickles the imagination.

And for some reason I keep seeing Kara Zor-El about to land upon what would truly be an Angry Red Planet.

You know, I'd kinda just ssumed Curiosity was going to turn itself into a lovely crater on the surface of Mars, I'm genuinely a bit surprised it's down safely. Pleased, but surprised. :)

I'm not going to write any more of this for at least a while, hopefully someone else will continue the story. The Kara idea is nice but I don't think this story is right for her.

The technology does improve, and the sheer size and weight of the thing meant that they had to really improve that aspect of the landing. It seems to have paid off.
